Wrapped up this piece that I’m proud of for my client @tu.unicajenny97 spelling out her last name: Q-U-I-C-H-E — an indigenous Guatemalan name that carries deep roots and a strong sense of identity.

From the beginning, we both knew this wasn’t just about getting a name tattooed — it was about representing her lineage, her culture, and who she is. That’s why we went with a traditional Old English style, but I modified it with my own twist to match her look and presence. She’s proud of her roots — and it shows.

We took our time and approached it with intention across three sessions:
1️⃣ First: Linework
2️⃣ Second: Majority of the shading
3️⃣ Third: Background, details, and cleaning up everything

I don’t rush these kinds of pieces. I’d rather let the skin heal properly between each pass so the final result comes out clean, solid, and long-lasting. Every layer was built with precision — from structure to softness — to make sure the balance and values held up in the long run.

Big shoutout to Jenny for being patient and trusting the process from day one. When a client believes in the vision, it always makes the piece stronger.

Tattooed the word “Broken” today on one of my

Tattooed the word “Broken” today on one of my new clients @dirtyonme at @artifactstattoos.
The word represents something personal to him — a reminder of where he’s at, but also a step towards moving forward

We placed it along his ribs in a traditional Old English layout, but I modified my own touch to make it feel more custom and raw. Simple and legible.

First tattoo for my client today — he chose to honor his grandmother by getting her name, Leonia, tattooed on the right side of his neck.
I designed the custom script for this piece and had the honor of tattooing it here at @artifactstattoos in Downtown LA.

Tattooed this forearm piece for my client Brent at @artifactstattoos in downtown LA.
The lettering reads “The World Is Mine”—a strong personal message we designed to work with his skin tone and texture, since he had some past skin damage in that area.
To bring the concept full circle, we added a spider with a globe for its back. The idea was power, control, and navigating the world on your own terms.
This kind of custom work—lettering with meaning and bold visuals—is what I’m aiming to do more of.

1st mural in Honolulu ,Oahu

“Kalihi Valley”

After wrapping up three weeks of tattooing in Maui, I flew to Oahu to paint a mural for @kvibekkv —a nonprofit I’ve been connected to for the past five years. K-Vibe (Kalihi Valley Instructional Bike Exchange) is all about empowering youth through bikes, mentorship, and creative expression. They turn bikes into “urban canoes”—tools to explore, grow, and build community. Anytime I’m in town, I try to show up for the young kuyas like an older brother would. This time, they invited me to paint something meaningful for the heart of Kalihi Valley.

The mural took six full days to complete. I expected to finish quicker, but weather delays and the scale of the wall made it a grind. I used the doodle grid method—drawing random shapes across the wall and overlaying my design digitally to line everything up. It’s only my third or fourth time using that technique, and it was definitely a challenge. The K-Vibe kids helped with priming, and friends and locals showed love throughout the process.

The design features bold Kalihi Valley lettering across the center, surrounded by a Hawaiian landscape—ocean, mountains, palm trees, and a kava plant. On the right side, I painted a portrait of Joseph Kahahawai Jr., a Hawaiian man who was falsely accused and murdered in 1932. This was my fourth portrait of him. His story is tragic but important, and I believe more people—especially outside Hawaii—should know his name and what he stood for.

This mural is more than paint—it’s a tribute to Kalihi’s roots, a reminder of resilience, and a gift to the next generation. I’m grateful to K-Vibe for the trust and to the community for welcoming me in. Mahalo, Kalihi Valley—until next time.

Just wrapped up three weeks of tattooing in Lahain

Just wrapped up three weeks of tattooing in Lahaina, Maui— from March 20th to April 6th at @banyantreetattoo in Whalers Village. This was my third trip in the last seven months, and it’s been amazing working with both locals and tourists on island-style pieces and custom designs.
